Linn County Fair 2019

Sheep, funnel cakes, garden art and tough trucks – what do all of these things have in common? They can all be found at the 2019 Linn County Fair! This year marks the 131st Linn County Fair to be held at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Central City. The fun, family-focused fair will run June 26 – 30 and feature a variety of new events in addition to the old favorites.

Nearly a year’s worth of planning goes into each annual fair. The Linn County Fair Association strives to provide opportunities for 4-Her’s, FFA members and the youth of Linn County to showcase their accomplishments and talents, while also providing activities, entertainment and learning opportunities to the diverse citizens of Linn County and all fair guests.

Grandstand Event Highlights Three new grandstand events are planned for this year at the fair. On Thursday, June 27, the CRBA Bulls-N-Barrels event will feature talented riders competing against each other in barrel racing and bull riding. The following evening, Friday, June 28 will feature Joe Diffie, Brandon Lay and Beau Timmerman live in concert. With songs like “John Deere Green” by Joe Diffie and “Yada Yada Yada” by Brandon Lay, this show is sure to bring a little something for everyone.

Also, new to the Linn County Fair grandstand in 2019 is the Sunday evening Tough Trucks event. This “demo derby” of sorts is sure to thrill audiences of all ages as drivers compete for top prizes.

The Chuckwagon Races have long been a Sunday staple at the Linn County Fair, but this year will be the last year for the races. The riders will be hanging up their tack after the 2019 season, so be sure to come out for their final ride.

Free Fun Everyone loves free entertainment and the Linn County Fair provides an abundance. New this year to the free entertainment lineup are the Los Moralitos Circus, Swifty Swine pig races, and the Department of Natural Resources Conservation Station. These three acts join the dozens that are offered each day at the fair.

Opening day at the fair, Wednesday, June 26 is free day at the fair. This 4-H/FFA themed day includes free gate admission and free grandstand admission to the Mutton Bustin’ event – perfect for the whole family.
