When approaching the home at 1193 Portsmith Circle, one of the first things the eye is drawn to is the carriage style garage doors and the combination of textures used on the exterior. The mixture of shake shingle and vertical siding with stone gives it a unique welcoming look.
The home is five bedrooms with three full baths and has 3,230 square feet of space with many custom features and amenities. “Our goal is to make it a complete home that is sustainable for years to come,” says Deb Burger, President of Burger Homes. Having been in the homebuilding industry for 38 years, a lot of thought goes into a Burger Home. For example, one of their custom features is a wider walkway so there is room for two to walk up side by side to the entry. Trees are added and landscaping is complete on the outside, while the garage is completely drywalled, finished and painted with soft-closing garage doors and a central vac.
Stepping into the home through the front door, one is greeted with a warm welcoming atmosphere that is drawn from the soft taupe, gray and pearl color scheme throughout the home. The space is flowing, functional and well-designed. From the entry you step into the great room that is designed with a birch wood floor done in a soft tan stain that is neutral but not too rustic in appearance. The woodwork and cabinets throughout the home are done in a deep mocha brown. In the great room there is a fireplace with built-in cabinets on each side of the fireplace, with LED lighting on the floating shelves above. All windows are “cased out, crowned and aproned,” says Deb. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail.
From the great room the open floor plan flows to the kitchen island with four bar stools and dining area with six-person table. The island is a pearl color that ties to the pearl tones in the fireplace stone. The sink on the island is a unique design of granite composite that is deep brown in color. The tile backsplash around the kitchen is a combination of taupe and pearl as well, with a five-burner gas stove.
Burger Homes are always HERS (Home Energy Rating System) rated and energy efficient. “We try to get the energy rating as low as possible, averaging a rating of 45 - 48,” says Deb. They use energy efficient appliances, such as the Bosch dishwasher and gas hookups for the dryer and stove. Appliances are included so that the home is move-in ready.
Beyond the kitchen is the master bedroom that has a double tray ceiling that adds depth to the space and gives it a unique feel. Into the master bath, there are his and hers separate vanity sinks that are divided by the entry to the master closet. The master bath uses oval mirrors and round glass lighting fixtures with a combination of metal, glass and wrought iron that is modern yet a bit rustic as well. The lighting fixtures throughout the home echo this same design. The master closet includes custom-built shelving that is firmly fastened into the studs. The master bath also includes a custom tiled walk-in shower with sliding glass door.
Off the dining room you can expand your living out to the covered deck that is complete with composite flooring, a light/ceiling fan combination and aluminum railing - all features that are maintenance-free.
Past the great room are two bedrooms with a bath in the middle for the kids to share. The bedrooms are all designed with 4” casing and (wider than standard) 5 ¼” baseboards - another unique feature of Burger Homes.
Down to the lower level, the steps have wood end caps and a skirt board, and the landing features birch wood floors. The carpeting in the lower level has a unique wave pattern that includes the taupe and gray colors. This level is so large there is space for three separate activities at once, with a second fireplace at the far end. Two more bedrooms, a full bath and additional finished storage space complete this beautifully elegant, well thought out and luxurious home.
