Style and Affordability Combine in Homes by Thomas Dostal Developers

Home buyers looking to downsize, those seeking their first home and everyone in between can find both affordability and the latest amenities in a house by Thomas Dostal Developers.
The Hawks Point subdivision offers numerous examples of those attributes, set within a rural backdrop. Step into a new home at 5401 Dostal Drive SW, a house on the Fall Parade of Homes, to find abundant details that set Thomas Dostal homes apart.
Dry stack on the exterior sets the tone for the sophisticated design inside, including a unique brilliant “glass daisy” light fixture that provides an immediate focal point upon entering. Dark Acacia flooring in the kitchen is complemented by stunning rustic alder cabinets, with abundant space.
The cabinets’ distressed wood add character and provides a contrast to the modern stainless steel appliances and patterned tile backsplash, while a retro fan in the living room offers more than improved air circulation. The fan’s LED lighting provides a dual lighting effect in bright white or toned down in blue. Similar lighting effects highlight valances above the windows, giving the room a party ambiance.
A fireplace uses dark porcelain tile literally turned on its side to offer a clean, eclectic, fashionable feel in the living room, while enough room above the mantle is available for a 80-inch television screen. - Under foot, a light-colored tight-weave mock Berber carpet offers style and wear-resistance, combined.
Eight-foot-tall doors give the room volume and just off the living room, one of those doors leads to a closet that can be used for linens, as a pantry or to store electronics in an out-of-the-way spot, with an HDMI port to connect to electronics.
Company owner Randy Dostal noted that space for electronics is a feature customers often request. Dostal’s attention to that type of detail carries into other rooms, as well. The laundry room, for example, features a washer and dryer on custom-built 20-inch appliance platforms. The height gives a person with back problems, Parkinson’s disease or other health concerns an easier time doing laundry, as they don’t have to bend to perform the task.
Similarly, door handles throughout the home are levers; particularly helpful for homeowners with rheumatoid arthritis or other joint pain who have difficulty gripping a typical style doorknob. In the bathroom, the toilet uses swipe technology for “no touch” flushing and designer grab-bars add another level of safety, as well as style. Back in the laundry room, a freezer serves double-duty as a folding table, saving space, as well.
Light bulbs in the bathroom emit a soft pink tone. “We try to stay on top of the latest technology,” Dostal said, adding that such features are an inexpensive way to add modern amenities.
That sense of technology carries over into the closet off the master bedroom, where another out-of-the-way space is located for electronics, including outlets and dedicated USB ports to plug in a smart phone and other devices, keeping those items charged and off of prime countertop or dresser space.
The master bathroom features a tile shower with uniquely textured pebble stone floor, while an arched entry adds another dimension over the shower.
Dostal said a light installed over the shower is one feature appreciated by both men and women. Another unique feature is under-sink lighting, which illuminates drawers and cabinets in the second main-level bathroom, while also serving as a night light.
The master bedroom features a flower-shaped ceiling fan, coffered ceiling and backlit crown moulding, while plenty of wall space is available for an 80-inch TV screen. A second first-floor bedroom can be used as an office, guest bedroom or children’s room.
Downstairs, the unfinished lower-level offers plenty of space for another bedroom, bathroom, extra-large closet, dry bar, workout room, storage space and even plumbing stubbed in for a kitchen. Dostal noted that millennials are staying home longer and aging parents may need to move back in with adult children, giving either their own space and privacy.
The home features high-efficiency heating and cooling and a Sonos wifi stereo system. Sliding glass doors on the main level lead to a spacious patio. The home is built on a zero lot line, which means less time spent on mowing and more time for leisure.
Dostal noted that many clients in the neighborhood are first-time home buyers or those buying their final home, “from age 22 to 82.” New homeowners can learn from seasoned veterans about lawn care and other topics, while, younger ones can teach older residents how to program the high-tech amenities in their new home. “It’s a real neat living environment here.”
